Helsinki's Newest Island Destination Opens to the Public on June 20, 2024!
Experience something truly unique! The Merilinna, designed by Eliel Saarinen and built in 1918, invites visitors to enjoy unparalleled views and breathe in the atmosphere of a bygone era.
The island is located in the middle of Helsinki's old archipelago villa area, which has mostly been closed off to the general public until now.

Kivisaari offers accommodation for up to 50 people in several different buildings. Options include lodging in your own cabin, a room in the unique Merilinna designed by Eliel Saarinen, and more affordable and self-catering accommodations in the Viherlehto and Kaleeri buildings. Every room has a sea view, and the environment is as delightful and cozy as can be!
All rooms are equipped with a small refrigerator and microwave, but no stove. Each room has an electrical outlet for charging phones. There are no toilets or showers in the rooms, but the island has 8 dry toilets, a sauna for washing, and a grilling area. The water is drinkable (water points are located near the toilet building, but there are no water points in the rooms).

The reception is open from 08:30-10:30 and 14:45-15:45. At other times, the receptionist can be reached by phone (the receptionist lives on the island and can quickly come if needed). Request a late check-out from the reception if needed.
Luggage can be left at the reception, but the area is not locked.
Each booking includes transportation for two people and breakfast. There is also a grilling area on the island, though we recommend trying the delicious offerings at the Kivisaari restaurant. Sauna sessions are included in the price (with separate times for women and men, as well as mixed sessions).
Bed linens and towels are included in the price for the separate cabins and Merilinna accommodations. For other accommodation types (Viherlehto, Kaleeri), please bring your own linens and towels. Linens and towels can be rented at the reception for Viherlehto and Kaleeri guests (additional cost of 20 euros per set). Breakfast is self-service at the Merilinna restaurant.
